While Fairfield County has experienced somewhat of a mild winter, a winter storm can still happen at any time.  A winter storm can cause damage of many kinds.  Freezing temperatures, heavy snow, and ice buildup are all things that can wreak havoc on your business.  But you can prepare beforehand to minimize the damage that you and your business are susceptible to.  Use the following tips to be prepared:

• Inspect your business for potential areas that could allow water in, such as damaged roofing and cluttered gutters. 
• Make sure walkways are free of ice.  Have de-icer on hand to melt away any buildup.
• After a storm, inspect the building for tree branches.  If large enough, they can cause roof damage that may need to be repaired.  A damaged roof can let water in, causing further damage.
