We are only a matter of weeks away from spring! The spring season brings wonderful things like warmer weather and fresh grass.  It also comes with the potential for weather events consisting of heavy rain, high-speed winds, and flooding. These can all cause damage to your business.  There is time to take some precautions to protect yourself against these types of damages. Doing these things can mean that you are prepared for weather that spring can bring.

Springtime water damage can be prevented or lessened by:

• Being aware of upcoming water-related weather patterns
• Clearing storm drains to prevent backup
• Inspecting your sump pump to ensure that it is working properly
• Clearing your gutters of any debris such as leaves that has accumulated

Other things you can do to prevent property damage include:

• Check your roof for cracked shingles and other weak points that could let water in
• Make sure that any dead trees are taken down.  This will prevent structural damage from wind-blown trees that could fall down.
• Assembling an emergency preparedness kit with items such as food, water, a flashlight, and a first aid kit.
